The Huawei P20 Pro features a sophisticated, hard-metal body and glass back, similar to the more recent iPhones. The P range was designed with a heavy focus on camera quality. It comes with an incredible 40-megapixel wide-angle main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera, both with optical zoom. The P20 Pro is a step up from the P10, offering large storage and improved battery life.
Let’s look at what you can do...
Android Oreo is the 8th major update and the 15th version from Google. Huawei has adopted Android’s mobile operating systems for its phones. The Huawei P20 Pro was released with the Android 8.0 Oero but can be updated to Android 9.0 Pie.
Faster App Launches
Your home screen and apps launch 2x faster than with Android 7.0 Nougat.
Android 8.0 Oreo minimises background activity of apps when they’re not being used as well as the ones you use the least.
Google Play Protect
This new safety feature focuses on keeping your personal information and settings safe from data-stealing apps, scanning over 50 billion apps per day.
When you’re watching a video in an app like Netflix or youtube you can now exit the video to access your home screen without fully closing the app. Simply tap the home button and the picture will minimise into a small window on the side of your screen so that you can access your other apps.
If you use Chrome on our PC, you’ll notice Google’s auto-saving feature for your logins. Android 8.0 has now extended that feature to your smartphone. You can now choose to let Google autosave your passwords and logins for your apps.
This feature helps you sort your notifications based on importance. In your settings, you can label notifications from a particular app, such as Facebook or your email, as ‘low’, ‘medium’, ‘high’ and ‘urgent’ importance. An urgent notification will make a noise and appear in the notifications bar and a not so important notification will remain quiet and will not appear in the notifications bar.
See multiple notifications at one time by tapping the notification dots, then easily clear them by swiping away. When a notification comes up on your home screen, you can now snooze it. Swipe left on the notification, tap the gearbox and select ‘snooze’ for one hour. You can change the time allocation per the notification as well.
Smart Text Selection
Smart text selection makes it easier for you to save or call a number if you’ve Googled it and need to select it. Once a number has been highlighted on Google, your phone will automatically copy paste it to your phone app for calling or saving.
When you’re close to your home or office network, your phone will automatically enable WiFi for you.
