All smartphones are tested for their durability in real-life situations such as facing a drop onto the road or pressure being applied to the screen. At the time of its release, the iPhone 6 tested very well for strength and durability.

US insurer SquareTrade, who test all smartphones when they’re released, found that the iPhone 6 continued to work smoothly after being submerged in water for 10 seconds. A drop test was also conducted and it was found that the phone continued to work just fine, however, the back panels did come off.
