Tone Mapping is smart. The camera analyses a photo and picks up the areas with a lot of colour, texture and light and highlights these features to improve your photo.

Apple worked really hard on improving your night shots using the iPhone 12, offering Night Mode on both lenses. The wide lens brings in 27 percent more light, making low-light and night time shots even clearer and more realistic.

The camera also gives you 2x optical zoom which works the same way as a zoom lens on a traditional or DSLR camera. Optical zoom is much better than digital zoom at taking photos from far away as it does not degrade image quality. The model also includes a 5x digital zoom.

The iPhone 12 offers HDR video recording with Dolby vision - a feature no other iPhone has ever had! You can also shoot at 4K at 24, 25, 30 and 60 frames per second (fps). That’s pretty amazing! Optical image stabilisation is available in the wide lens and you can take 8-megapixel photo screenshots from 4K video.
